I love having friends who say yes to early morning hikes. This particular morning, we headed off up a very steep track. I spent most of the hike wondering why I put myself through this sort of experience. Getting up in the dark, to get extremely sweaty, all the while watching for snakes and spider webs. But then I reach the top and it all makes sense. I see the way light slowly illuminates the surrounding summits, the way it changes the colour of trees in the valley and I can't help but forget the struggle. Mt Bally is a local favourite for sure.
